Current Ventures
My most immediate project is the 18th century volume of the Penguin History of Britain, which I have provisionally entitled Becoming Global. This will seek to balance, align and connect British experiences as a European power and set of societies, that was ruled in this period by a series of Dutch and German monarchs, with Britain’s increasing involvement in Asia, the Americas and the Caribbean and Pacific worlds. I will be writing this as a Fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin in 2021-22.
